Establishment of Tilapia Fish Seed Hatchery and Shrimp Farm at Muzaffargarh to provide quality GIFT tilapia seed and promote shrimp culture in Punjab.

A new development project titled "Establishment Of Tilapia Fish Seed Hatchery And Shrimp Farm At Muzaffargarh" has been initiated to promote GIFT Tilapia. The objectives of this project are:

  • Establishment of Tilapia Fish Seed Hatchery to provide quality tilapia fish seed to fish farmers
  • Annual production of 0.8 million mono-sex tilapia (GIFT) fish seed to make saline waters more productive
  • Construction of pond complex for shrimp culture at Muzaffargarh. Initial study of shrimp culture will be conducted to introduce it to the private sector
