Shrimp Culture

Shrimp culture, particularly focusing on Litopenaeus vannamei (Pacific white shrimp), is a significant initiative in Punjab's aquaculture sector. The province's extensive saline and brackish water areas provide an ideal environment for shrimp farming, offering opportunities for economic growth, food security, and sustainable development.

The Government of Punjab has launched a comprehensive project titled "CM Punjab Initiative for Development of Shrimp Aquaculture," with a budget of Rs. 4,430.490 million and a gestation period from 2024-25 to 2027-28.
